Linguistic diversity is a tool for achieving broader intercultural understanding and a fundamental element of our continent's rich cultural heritage. Thus, September 26th is a day dedicated to celebrating languages. It was established by a decision of the Ministers' Committee of the Council of Europe on December 6th, 2001. In this context, the students of our school's 9th grade participated in a European eTwinning program with the aim of celebrating the European Day of Languages. The children created a poster to highlight the importance of multilingualism and learning foreign languages, as well as to depict the languages spoken and learned in our school. Subsequently, a competition will be held among the participants to determine the school with the most creative and imaginative poster. To create our poster, we were inspired by "Elmer, the Elephant", the well-known fairytale by David McKee. This story conveys important values such as empathy, love, friendship, inclusion, and acceptance of anything and anyone different. With these values in mind, we took it a step further and created our own version of Elmer. Our Elmer represents the significance of plurilingualism and the importance of learning new languages. This leads to the acceptance of cultural diversity and fosters friendship among peoples.
